Belk raises nearly $3,100 for Bill Wright Elementary through Angel Days Program

Angel Days provided customers an opportunity to support local elementary schools through direct contributions at local Belk stores. The Weatherford Belk location donated 100 percent of its proceeds from the program to Wright Elementary, and the funds are to be used to support the needs of the campus.

"We appreciate Belk and its partnership with our campus," Wright Elementary Principal Joy Bailey said. "We are planning on using a portion of this donation to help offset some costs for our upcoming Back to School Bash (B2SB) which is scheduled for Aug. 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the other portion will go toward playground improvements."

Bailey said the purpose of the B2SB is to provide free haircuts to students, school supplies, backpacks, and even immunizations.

As part of the Angel Days program, local Belk customers donated to the program throughout the month of December. For a $1 contribution, customers received an ornament to place on the Belk angel tree in the store. For a $5 contribution, customers received an ornament for the angel tree and in exclusive angel pin.
