In 2011, Weatherford ISD was selected as a recipient for the Texas Award for Performance Excellence (TAPE) presented by the Quality Texas Foundation
The Texas Award for Performance for Excellence is an annual recognition of Texas organizations that excel in performance and organizational improvement principles and is the state’s equivalent to the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. It also is the highest level recognized by the Quality Texas Foundation.
Weatherford ISD is one of only four school districts to achieve this honor since the Quality Texas Foundation was founded in the early 1990s from a concept introduced by former Gov. Ann Richards.
The Quality Texas Foundation has four criteria levels that are designed to assess the degree to which an organization has developed and deployed sound, balanced approaches resulting in improved performance levels and trends: Engagement Level; Commitment Level; Progress Level; and the Texas Award for Performance Excellence.
Weatherford ISD previously received the “Commitment Level” recognition in 2008, followed by the “Progress Level” recognition in 2009.
The Quality Texas Foundation, a non-profit Texas corporation, focuses on an assessment and feedback process, education, training, and recognition to help businesses, schools, hospitals, non-profits, and government agencies improve performance. The Foundation administers the Texas Award for Performance Excellence program (based on the Baldrige Criteria), the state’s highest recognition for Quality. The Foundation, with offices located in Irving, coordinates more than 300 volunteers from all areas of industry, government, education, non-profit and health care who work together to assess and promote quality and performance excellence throughout the state.
