Curtis sixth graders raise more than $1,700 for South Sudan

The donations, which were made following an integrated Social Studies and ELA unit, will go toward joining the Iron Giraffe Challenge to help Water for South Sudan founder Salva Dut replace his drilling rig to continue his mission of providing clean water to the people of South Sudan.

Water for South Sudan transforms lives
In South Sudan, millions of women and children trek for up to eight hours a day to collect water from marshes, ditches, or hand-dug wells where water is often contaminated with parasites and bacteria. The results are sickness, even death.
