The Weatherford ISD Adult Education Cooperative is a program within the WISD Community Education Department, funded by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The program offers FREE English language, math, reading, and writing instruction for adults in Parker, Palo Pinto, and Wise counties to help them acquire the skills needed to succeed in the workforce.

 

 

 

Eligibility for High School Equivalency Prep & ESL Classes

 

Individuals must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Not be enrolled in school, nor a high school graduate, and function below the secondary level
  • 19 years of age or above OR
  • 17 to 18 years of age with a withdrawal from the last school attended & a letter of parental/guardian permission OR
  • 16 years of age with a court order (a copy of the court order must be provided)
  • Not be a visitor to the U.S. with a F-1 or J-1 categorized visa or passport (tourist, educational or exchange visitor)


Classes are FREE to eligible individuals. No children are allowed in class.

To ensure student success and to make the best use of resources, all students are expected to adhere to our rigorous attendance policies.  Excessive absences may result in dismissal from the program.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Adult Education also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for non-native speakers. This class is designed to help improve the literacy skills of non-native speakers and enable them to communicate more effectively.

Educación de adultos ofrece también (ESL) clases de inglés como segunda idioma para los hablantes no nativos. Esta clase está diseñada para ayudar a mejorar las habilidades de alfabetización de hablantes no  nativos y para poder
comunicarse mejor con los empleadores, maestros de los

CNA Career Pathway Collaboration

Active Adult Education students who meet additional requirements may be eligible to participate in a Career Pathway Program to pursue Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification while concurrently earning their high school equivalency certificate.
