Weatherford ISD to Open 2 Hours Late on Thursday

While our roads are considerably better this afternoon, some roads in the northern and southern part of our district are still a concern.

Buses will run 2 hours later than normal. This allows our bus drivers to have maximum visibility to avoid problem areas on the road. It also keeps students out of the pre-dawn cold.

First Student is currently assessing the road conditions on all bus routes. There will be some bus routes that are inaccessible because of icy road conditions. Parents will be notified this evening or early tomorrow morning if it has been determined buses cannot safely travel to their location.

Pre-K morning classes will also be delayed for 2 hours with a normal pick up time. Afternoon Pre-K classes will operate on a normal schedule.

Due to the delayed start, campuses will not serve breakfast but will be providing lunch.

Your safety remains our highest priority. Our Maintenance Department has worked throughout the day to remove as much ice as possible and the delayed start will enable them to ensure entries to our buildings are safe. While most roadways are clear and safe for travel, parents should use discretion if it is unsafe to travel from their home. Parents of teenage drivers should also use discretion and advise their children to use extreme caution if driving to school.
