Kanga Care Centers

More than 700 WISD students and staff have utilized a WISD Kanga Care Center this school year!

Kanga Care is a partnership between Weatherford ISD and Parker County Hospital District Outreach Program to provide medical care onsite at each Weatherford ISD campus.

Using telemedicine and the MedPod Medical Cart, school nurses, in partnership with Dr. Steven Welch, are able to treat minor medical issues that include, but are not limited to fever, sore throat, rashes, allergies, ear pain, eye infections such as pink eye, and flu-like illnesses. In addition, available diagnostic lab procedures include blood glucose level, streptococcal pharyngitis, mononucleosis, and influenza A and B

Students with private health insurance or are covered under Medicaid will provide PCHD with insurance information during enrollment. Copayment will vary and be discussed prior to visit. If a student does not have health insurance, the clinic nurse will provide options.
