WISD School Board Names Deputy Superintendent

Rod Townsend was named deputy superintendent at a Special Meeting of the WISD Board of Trustees held on July 27, 2020.

Mr. Townsend has over 35 years of experience in public education that includes serving as superintendent of schools for Rochester, Hico, and Decatur ISDs. He also held several leadership positions with the Texas Association of School Administrators, including president in 2011-2012. Since his retirement in 2017, he has served as interim superintendent for both Spring Hill ISD and Peaster ISD. Most recently, he served as interim superintendent for Weatherford ISD from March - June 2020.
