Three Students Named 2023 All-State Musicians

Three students will represent Weatherford ISD as Texas All-State musicians at the 2023 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive.

Each fall, over 70,000 high school students across the state audition in their TMEA Region. Individuals perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. A select group of musicians advances to compete against musicians from other Regions in their TMEA Area.

Ultimately, 1,830 are selected to rehearse and perform during the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles, including four choirs. Only the top 2.5% of musicians who initially audition become All-State musicians.

These All-State students travel to the TMEA Clinic/Convention, held in San Antonio on February 8-11. They participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally-recognized conductors, then perform for thousands of attendees to close the convention on February 11 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
