WISD Superintendent Dr. Beau Rees Announces Retirement After 31-Year Career

After 31 years in public education, including 23 years as a superintendent, Dr. Beau Rees has announced that he will retire this summer.

Rees has served as superintendent of Weatherford ISD since 2020, providing steady leadership focused on student success, innovation, and collaboration. During his tenure, the district has strengthened academic programs, expanded opportunities for students, and increased support for educators.

“It has been an honor to serve the students, staff, and families of Weatherford ISD,” said Rees. “The accomplishments of the past five years are the result of great teamwork and a shared commitment to doing what’s best for kids. As I look ahead to retirement, I do so with tremendous gratitude and confidence in the continued success of the district.”

Throughout his leadership, Dr. Rees emphasized positive school culture, student well-being, and innovative initiatives that prepare learners for life beyond high school. His focus on teamwork and strong relationships has supported the district’s continuous improvement.

“Dr. Rees’ leadership has been marked by integrity, vision, and a steadfast focus on students,” said Mike Guest, president of the Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees. “He has led our district with care and purpose, always keeping students at the heart of every decision. The Board is deeply grateful for his service.”

The Board of Trustees will soon begin the process of identifying candidates for the next superintendent. Trustees are committed to a thorough search and will provide updates to staff and the community as the process moves forward.
