Weatherford ISD is proud to announce that students from Weatherford High School earned third place nationally in the Green Our Planet SEED Tank Innovation Challenge, a sustainability-focused competition open to student teams across the United States.
The WHS team—Charlee Neighbors, Celeyste Jaramillo, and Lila Wells—was selected as one of six national finalists out of 39 total submissions for their project, “Student Seasonings.” Their work earned a $2,000 cash prize and national recognition for innovative thinking and real-world problem solving.
SEED Tank (Sustainable, Educational, Entrepreneurial Development) challenges students to identify community-based issues and develop solutions connected to gardening, hydroponics, or sustainability through STEM, entrepreneurship, or conservation pathways.
The students were guided by Tiel Jenkins, Weatherford High School Food Science and PALs teacher and FCCLA advisor, as part of a project-based learning experience during the fall semester.
Weatherford ISD congratulates these students on their achievement and commends the dedication and creativity that led to success on a national stage.
