Weatherford ISD has named Patricia Melendez as Interim Chief Financial Officer. Patricia brings more than 17 years of experience in accounting and finance, including 13 years in Texas public school finance, with extensive knowledge of district budgeting, compliance, and financial reporting.
Patricia has most recently served as Weatherford ISD’s Executive Director of Finance, where she oversaw all business and finance operations for the district. Her responsibilities include managing the general fund and debt service budgets, preparing monthly budget amendments and Board financial reports, serving as the district’s investment officer, and ensuring compliance with state and federal financial requirements. She also plays a key role in payroll analysis, bond payment processing, audit preparation, and staff training across campuses and departments.
Before her most recent role, Patricia served Weatherford ISD as Director of Finance and Director of Accounting, providing continuity and institutional knowledge across multiple leadership transitions. Earlier in her career, she held finance leadership roles at Education Service Center Region 11, managing complex budgets, grant compliance, audits, and multi-fund accounting.
Patricia received her bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and is a Registered Texas School Business Administrator (RTSBA) through TASBO. She is bilingual in Spanish and brings a steady, detail-driven approach to fiscal leadership.
