Kangaroo Stadium Incident

A Weatherford ISD parent is under investigation after a handgun he was carrying at Kangaroo Stadium discharged at the end of last night’s Meet the Roos event. The man has been identified and the Weatherford Police Department is currently investigating the situation.

Weatherford ISD is focused on creating a safe environment for our students and families and is handling this situation with the highest priority. Dr. Jeffrey Hanks, superintendent, said, “We are extremely fortunate that no one was injured as a result of this incident. Weatherford ISD is currently working with the Weatherford Police Department and will pursue charges to the extent of the law.”

As a reminder, Weatherford ISD Board Policy prohibits the use, possession, or display of any firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon, as defined at Board Policy FNCG (Legal), on all District property at all times (GKA Local).

Dr. Hanks said, “We consider school premises to be sacred ground. We’d like to remind everyone that a license to carry a concealed handgun does not permit an individual to bring a weapon on school property.”
