Weatherford ISD Safety Message 2-27-18

Dear Kangaroos,

Last night, the Board of Trustees met to further discuss the safety and security of our campuses. The Board of Trustees have met multiple times throughout the fall and into the new year studying ways to continue to enhance the safety of our campuses by adding multiple layers to our safety plan. I am attaching a press release that was sent to our staff and to local media today. The press release identifies safety measures that are in place in WISD as well as measures that are being considered.

One of the safety considerations is a Defender Program. We are in the process of gathering input from our staff and scheduling a parent information session that includes a presentation about the Defender Program. It is the Board of Trustees’ hope that this presentation will answer many of your questions and provide you with an understanding of this program so that you can provide them feedback from an informed position. Following the presentation will be a survey that will provide the Board of Trustees information that will assist them in making decisions for the District.

I want to reiterate that none of the measures identified in the press release as being considered by the Board of Trustees has any more, or less, potential to become part of our safety program. They are all viable possibilities as the Board continues to work to make WISD a safe environment for students and staff. Please see the attached press release for more information.
