Weatherford ISD Announces Summer Kanga Care Clinic Opening

Starting Monday, Weatherford ISD’s school nurses will offer a summer Kanga Care Clinic as a healthcare option for Weatherford ISD students, staff and Parker County first responders including officers, fire and EMS.

The summer Kanga Care Clinic will be located at the Ninth Grade Center campus and will be open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 15 through August 3. School nurses will be available to diagnose and treat minor illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, eye infections, flu, and mono. They also have the capability to monitor blood glucose levels. Once test results are received, patients will have a consultation with the Kanga Care physician, Dr. Steven Welch.

Those needing access to the summer Kanga Care Clinic will first schedule an appointment through the Parker County Hospital District by calling 817-458-3331. When patients arrive at the Ninth Grade Center campus, they should park in designated parking spaces located in the parking lot across from Kangaroo Stadium. Patients will then call a number to contact the school nurse and remain in their cars where the appropriate test will be performed. When a test result is available, Dr. Welch will be notified and the patient will be given a face mask and brought into the clinic for a consultation. Dr. Welch will provide all test results, care plans, and any other guidance to Kanga Care Clinic patients.

Nurses will wear personal protective equipment at all times and will follow a strict cleaning process.
