Hall 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team travel to Stephenville Friday and Saturday to play in the Stephenville “A” Team Tournament. The Boys started the Tournament against Graham. Hall jumped out quickly against Graham and took a quick lead. Keagan Purefoy gave the Roos a huge offensive performance which helped pad Hall’s lead. The Boys never looked back and defeated Graham 45-30. Leading the Roos in scoring was: Keagan Purefoy- 12 points, Ashton Smith- 8 points, and James McAfee with 6 points.
The boys returned on Saturday to play Stephenville. Even though the Roos came out cold shooting, their defensive pressure got to the Yellow Jackets and took an early lead against Stephenville. Thanks to great defensive pressure from Ashton Smith and James McAfee, Stephenville never stood a chance at coming back and propelled the Roos into the Championship Game after beat Stephenville 37 to 30. Leading the Roos in scoring against Stephenville was: Grayson Stinson- 15 points and Ashton Smith with 9 points.
In the Championship game, Hall faced a very athletic and talented Everman team. The Roos had great pressure on Everman to start the game on defense. After the slow start on offense the Roos were down 11-15 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Roos kept fighting and tied the game at half 25-25. After a tough 3rd quarter the Roos found their selves in a hole down 29-38. In the 4th quarter the boys fought back and were going back and forth with Everman but could never grab the lead. Finally the Roos came up with a big rebound with 10 seconds left and Grayson Stinson drove the full length of the court and made a great pass to Dominic Davi who made the game tying basket with 2 seconds left sending the game to overtime. In overtime, the Roos feel behind quickly but with their determination they fought back. Ashton Smith had several key offensive rebounds and Dominic Davi made must needed baskets to help cut the lead. Then with about 8 seconds left and down by 2, Cody Henderson came up with a big rebound and found Dominic Davi who drove all the way down to the other end of the court and put up a nice shot but just couldn’t get it to fall in as the buzzer sounded. The Roos lost 52-50 in overtime. Scoring for the Roos in the Championship game was: Grayson Stinson- 16 points, Dominic Davi- 13 points, and Colt Davis with 11 points.
