Your Lady Roos competed at Burleson Centennial High School this past weekend in the Black and Blue Classic. Every game kept spectators on the edge of their seat until the final pitch. 4 of the 5 game were decided in the last inning and no game was decided by more than two runs. Unfortunately we finished 2-3 on the weekend.
Game 1 - Kelsey O'Brien struck out 8 and only allowed 6 hits in a 5-4 loss in 8 innings against Burleson Centennial. Konig and O'Brien both had two hits and an RBI. Ana Loya, Landri Mays, Taylor Pool, and Courtney Cleveland also had base hits for the Lady Roos.
Game 2 - The second game ended in dramatic fashion as Taylor Pool hit a two run homer in the top of the 7th to secure an 8-6 win over Red Oak. Sydney Johns pitched a great game and picked up the first varsity win of her career. Other major contributors were Liz Konig with 4 hits and 4 RBI's, Ashley Erb with 3 hits, and Abbey Cowan and Ana Loya both had two hits each.
Game 3 - Game 3 proved to be a nail biter as well. Once again, this time in the bottom of the 7th, Taylor Pool drove in Kayla Gardner for the game winning run against Byron Nelson. Kelsey O'Brien struck out seven and only allowed five hits. Abbey Cowan, Taylor Pool, and Kelsey O'Brien all had two hits each.
Game 4 - Game 4 was the story of a great pitching battle. Kelso struck out 11 in a 2-0 loss against Plano West. The Lady Roos were shut out by the young lady from Plano West as she threw a no hitter.
Game 5 - Sydney Johns pitched a great game against Kennedale, only to have two errors allow three runs in the top of the 7th for a 6-4 loss. Sophomore Erin Riney had one hit and an RBI, while sophomore teammate Kayla Gardner added a triple and two RBI's.
