WHS volleyball teams sweep Keller Timber Creek

Weatherford’s varsity volleyball team used a lot of heart and determination to edge out Keller Timber Creek, 24-26, 25-18, 25-16, 8-25, 17-15, in a five-set marathon Tuesday in the Weatherford High School gymnasium.


Scoring leaders for the Lady Roos were freshman Kaitlyn Rogers with 11 kills, a .600 hitting percentage, and 27 assists; Erin Riney led the team with 24 digs; and Jericka Graves finished with 17 digs and four aces. Also, Sarah Schwartz had 10 kills and Maddie Dorris had four blocks.


The Lady Roos travel to Keller Fossil Ridge on Friday for its next non-district matchup.

 


Junior Varsity

Weatherford High School’s junior varsity volleyball team came back and defeated Keller Timber Creek in three sets, 25-18, 12-25, 25-14, Tuesday in the WHS gym.


Coach Courtney Wright said the pivotal point when the Lady Roos regained their composure was when Micah Schwartz led Game 3 with a strong serving performance. She also said the girls played as a team, and they all contributed in the win.

 


Freshmen ‘A’ Team

Weatherford’s Freshmen ‘A’ team beat Keller Timber Creek last night in straight games, 25-13, 25-10, on Tuesday.


Coach Tim O’Brien said freshman Eliana Harmer did a great job defensively playing in the middle. Also, he said Hope Wright had a good night serving and setting the ball.

 


Freshmen ‘B’ Team

Weatherford High School’s Freshmen ‘B’ team won in straight games over Keller Timber Creek, 25-12, 25-22, Tuesday in the WHS gym.


Coach Tim O’Brien said Alyssa Bagwell finished the game with a series of ace serves, and Gabriella Briggs also finished both games with a series of kills. He also said collectively, the girls played hard and scrappy.
