WHS Head Tennis Coach Keeley McLarty said senior Morgan Messinger’s second set tiebreaker win gave the Roos the points it needed in order to advance to the Area Tournament.
“This was a true team effort from our kids,” McLarty said. “We lost our No. 3 boy and girl to injuries this week, and everyone from No. 4 to No. 7 had to move up a spot on the singles ladder and face tougher opponents.”
Sophomore A.J. Lindsey and freshman Hailey Daniels stepped up to fill in at the mixed doubles spot and faced off against last year’s regional qualifiers.
The Area Tournament is set for Oct. 21-22 at Arlington Martin High School in Arlington. Only the top four teams advance to Area.
