Bad Weather Information
Bad Weather Information for Parents
When bad weather is predicted, administrators pay close attention to forecasts, stay in touch with our District meteorologist, stay in close contact with neighboring school district administrators, and monitor road conditions in order to make the best decision for the safety and security of students, staff, and families.
The following factors are considered when we make a decision that alters the normal school schedule:
• Information on road conditions and whether buses/cars can safely travel
• The existing accumulation of snow or ice
• The rate and expected duration of precipitation
• Parking lot and sidewalk conditions
• Weather predictions
The safety of our families and staff will always be our top priority when we are faced with decisions about school closings due to weather.
When will you know?
We strive to make decisions that alter the school day schedule in advance so parents can make arrangements for their children. When necessary, we do our best to inform families and staff by 6:15 am about any change to the school day schedule.
How will you find out?
When changes to the normal school schedule occur as a result of inclement weather, we will post information on the home page of the Weatherford ISD website, on the WISD Facebook page, Instagram account, and Twitter (X) account. We will also notify local TV and radio stations, and use our SchoolMessenger calling system to notify our families and staff by phone, email, and text.
Parents are encouraged to rely on the Weatherford ISD website and social media pages for the most current, accurate information.
