The public is invited to learn more about Weatherford ISD’s proposed District of Innovation application to the Texas Education Agency by attending the Weatherford Independent School District’s District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC) meeting to be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 4:00 pm.
The meeting will now be held via Zoom.
A district of innovation is a concept passed by the 84th Legislative Session in House Bill 1842. Weatherford ISD applied to be a District of Innovation (DOI) and was granted that status in 2017. The DOI designation lasts five years and school district’s must reapply in order to extend the DOI designation. The rationale for the application allows for flexibility in designing the school calendar and flexibility in teacher certification allowing the District to recruit, employ, and retain specialists, particularly in the area of Career & Technical Education.
