Advisory Council

The Parker County Adult Literacy Council is a representative group of citizens, be it parents, students, business, media, who meet to coordinate, plan, and provide direction for program development of the WISD Community Education Department. The council provides invaluable information to the Community Education staff and is the vehicle that allows Community Education to move beyond providing classes and activities based only on the best thinking of the community educator. The Literacy Council is an important link and a way to identify real needs between the community educator and the community. Because of their roots within the community, council members can encourage and help forage cooperative and collaborative agreements with community agencies, thus assuring that needs are being met in the most efficient manner and with the least amount of duplication.
