Credit By Exam Without Prior Instruction Board Policy EHDC (Legal)
CREDIT BY EXAM – If a Student Has Not Taken the Course
A student in any grade (K-12) may use examinations in lieu of course work for acceleration to advance one grade level (K-5), or to earn credit in an academic subject (grades 6-12). Questions regarding these examinations and procedures for kindergarten acceleration may be discussed with the campus principal. The parent must complete a Credit By Exam request with the campus principal for a student to accelerate a grade or course, and the parent request must include a rationale for the acceleration and testing. A student will earn credit with a passing score of at least “80” on the exam/s.

If a student plans to take an exam, the student (or parent) must register with the principal by the scheduled registration deadline. The District will not honor a request by a parent to administer a test on a date other than the published dates. If the District agrees to administer a test other than the one chosen by the District, the parent must purchase a test from a university approved by the State Board of Education.
