Programs and Services Available for Students in

Weatherford ISD and Parker County:

The Weatherford Independent School District provides a free appropriate education program for all children with disabilities living in the district. Services are available for children with disabilities from birth through 21 years of age.

A person with a disability is one who has been assessed and diagnosed with a disability that hinders educational performance. Services and assistive technology that are designed to be educationally beneficial for the child with a disability are available on each WISD campus. A person with a disability is one who has a hearing or vision impairment, specific learning disability, intellectual disability, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, emotional disturbance, speech impairment, or traumatic brain injury. The services may either be provided at school, home, or hospital bedside. All personnel providing these services for children with disabilities must meet Texas Education Agency certification standards and be specially trained. Parents of children who are having academic difficulty or failure at school may want to ask the school principal to refer their child for an evaluation. Children with disabilities who are enrolled in private school and/or home schooled are also eligible to apply for these services.

All services, programs, and supports listed below are determined on an individual basis by the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee for each student.
