Cpl. Todd Raymond

My name is Todd Raymond and I am a Corporal with the Weatherford Police Department and one of the School Resource Officers.

I started with the Weatherford Police Department in late 1992 as a reserve officer. Soon after completing the field training program I started full time in 1993. As you might guess with most rookie officers, I went straight to the night shift…but not really by choice. A few years later I promoted to corporal and a few years after that I promoted to sergeant. I spent the majority of my first 10 years on the night shift learning tools and techniques that made me a better officer and prepared me for the next step of my career, SRO.

In 2003 a position for an SRO became available, but not for a sergeant. After some days of tough thought and counsel with my superiors, I gave up my sergeant stripes and took the SRO spot. Turns out that was the best decision I have ever made!

This is my calling! This is what modern police work is all about, helping people. I have always believed I have made a difference in some people’s lives but until now I was never around to see it. Being an SRO allows me to work with kids, schools, and community groups to share my experience and knowledge and see a positive end result.

Being an SRO has also been a blessing in my personal life. I have had more time to spend with my two boys doing things like camping, fishing, hunting, working on projects at home or just playing a board game. My wife enjoys me being home at night and being able to go watch the boy’s football games. I am very fortunate to have found such a rewarding career and one that I truly love.
