Goals of Bilingual Education/ESL Programs
The goals of the Dual Language Immersion/one-way are as follows:
- Bilingualism and Biliteracy
- Grade level academic success in both languages
- Socio-cultural competence
The goals of Transitional Bilingual/early exit are as follows:
- Use Emergent Bilingual student's primary language to promote high levels of oral language proficiency and literacy in English.
- Achieve proficiency in all academic subjects, meeting or exceeding state standards
- To instill confidence, self-assurance, and a positive identity with their cultural heritages.
The goals of the English as a Second Language Program are as follows:
- Ensure Emergent Bilingual students learn content while they acquire English skills
- Orient Emergent Bilingual students to the American school environment, customs, and practices so they become active members of society
- To instill confidence, self-assurance, and a positive identity with their cultural heritages.
