WISD Comprehensive School Counseling Program

According to the American School Counselor Association, school counselors work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all. School counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes.
School counselors help all students:
  • apply academic achievement strategies
  • manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills
  • plan for postsecondary options (higher education,
    military, workforce)
School Counselor Qualifications
  • Hold, at minimum, a master’s degree in school
  • Meet the state certification/licensure standards
  • Fulfill continuing education requirements
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards

At the campus level, counselors annually:

  • Set Goals
  • Create Plans
  • Share Objectives with administrators and stakeholders

Counselors deliver their program through:

  • Guidance Curriculum
  • Individual Planning
  • Responsive Services
  • System Support
In Weatherford ISD, we follow the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. 
Using the four components, WISD Counselors plan and implement comprehensive school counseling programs to meet the needs of our students, staff, and school communities.
