Home School UIL Participation
Texas House Bill 547 gives school districts the option to allow homeschooled students residing within district boundaries to participate in UIL activities as members of the district's teams/activities/events.

Weatherford ISD has allowed homeschool students to participate in UIL activities for several years, provided they meet the following guidelines:
Eligibility Requirements and Documentation:
- Was not enrolled in a public school this year
- Must provide Proof of Residency (utility, lease, or mortgage statement)
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of immunizations or waiver opting out
- As a condition of eligibility to participate in a league activity during the first six weeks of a school year, a non-enrolled student must demonstrate grade-level academic proficiency on any nationally recognized, norm-referenced assessment instrument, such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Stanford Achievement Test, California Achievement Test, or Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills.

Student/Parent Expectations:
1. Grade Verification
Parent/guardian must submit written grade verification every six weeks, confirming the student is passing all subjects.

2. Rules and Conduct
Homeschooled students are expected to follow the same rules and regulations as enrolled students, including the Student Code of Conduct. Participating in extra-curriculars is a privilege and as such, participating students will be held to a higher level of accountability than non-participating students in accordance with our athletic/fine arts handbook.
3. In-Season and Off-Season Commitment
Homeschool students must commit to all required practices, workouts, and meetings, both in and out of the playing season. Students are not permitted to participate in more than one athletic period during the school day (UIL). Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from practices.
