Heather's Books

In the fall of 2018, the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation launched Heather’s Books, a literacy-focused funding priority created in memory of beloved Ikard Elementary teacher Heather Holland. This program carries forward her belief that every child should discover the joy, confidence, and curiosity that come from holding a book of their very own.

Every year, the Foundation gives each Pre K student a Heather’s Books voucher to choose books at their school’s fall and spring book fairs. It’s a simple gift that opens a big door: the chance for children to explore stories, build vocabulary, and begin a lifelong love of reading.

To date, Heather’s Books has placed more than 5,400 books into the hands of WISD’s youngest learners. For many students, it was their very first book and the start of a reading journey that would make Mrs. Holland proud.
