Health Screenings
Texas requires that students attending public schools have the following screening procedures performed by trained screeners. All students will be screened by the campus registered nurse or trained campus designee unless the campus nurse receives a written notice signed by a parent indicating that they wish that their child not be screened. This notice should be submitted at the beginning of the school year. (The notice is located in the Health Questionnaire filled out at Registration.)

Parents will be notified to take their children to their personal physician for further evaluation and follow up if any abnormalities are revealed during these screenings.
Hearing & Vision Screening - All Pre-K, kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th grade students, new students and those students with suspected vision or hearing loss will be screened by certified screeners each year.
Spinal Screening - All female students are screened in 5th and 7th grade. Male students are screened in 8th grade for spinal abnormalities.
Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes - All 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th graders will be screened for risk factors associated with Type 2 Diabetes.
