The Parker County Hospital District will hold shot clinics for incoming 7th grade students at their Immunization Office located at 1115 Pecan Drive in Weatherford on the following dates:

- Saturday, August 2nd from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Thursday, August 7th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm
- Saturday, August 9th from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

2025 STAAR End-of-Course Results Are Now Available!

If your child took an End-of-Course exam this spring, their results are now available.

To view scores and to see how each question was answered, visit the Texas Assessment Family Portal at TexasAssessment.gov.

Want to skip the access code? Just log in to your Skyward Family Access account, click “District Links” in the top right, and select “TEA Assessment.” You’ll be taken straight to your child’s STAAR results—no code needed.

Reminder: STAAR results for grades 3–8 will be posted June 17, 2025.

The graduation ceremony for the WHS Class of 2025 will be held at Kangaroo Stadium at 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Tickets are required for entry and have been distributed to our senior students.

Again this year, the graduation ceremony will be livestreamed. The livestream may be accessed at http://www.weatherfordisd.com/WatchGraduation

*Please be aware that a 5-minute fireworks show will be held immediately following the ceremony.

The Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Brandi Swenson as the next principal of Curtis Elementary. She will succeed Lorie Bratcher, who is retiring at the end of the school year after a distinguished career of service to the students and families of Weatherford ISD.

Mrs. Swenson brings more than two decades of experience in public education and a strong record of leadership and student-focused success. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Midwestern State University and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Wayland Baptist University.

She began her career in 1999 as a third-grade teacher at Bradford Elementary in Iowa Park CISD. From 2011 to 2014, she served as Assistant Principal at W.F. George Middle School before being named Principal of Bradford Elementary in 2014—a role she has held for the past decade. Her excellence in education has been recognized at both the local and state level; she was named Iowa Park Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year in 2010 and TASSP Region 9 Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year in 2012.

Reid Blackwell was named Director of Communications for Weatherford ISD, replacing Charlotte LaGrone who is retiring at the end of June.

Mr. Blackwell brings a strong background in public relations, strategic communication, and school district messaging. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, Public Relations, and Journalism from Baylor University. During his time at Baylor, he completed internships with Northwest ISD and the Heart of Texas Retired Senior Volunteer Program, gaining early experience in both education and nonprofit communications.

His professional career includes roles as Marketing Administrator and Marketing Manager for Lone Star Park, where he led promotional campaigns and managed community engagement initiatives. Since 2019, he has served in key roles within the Mesquite ISD communications department, most recently as Communications Coordinator, where he developed district-wide messaging, led multimedia projects, and supported campus-level communication strategies.

Follow the WHS Varsity baseball games through live broadcasts this season! It all starts on Saturday, February 22nd at 11:00 am as the Roos face Denton Guyer.

Metro Sports Communications, the state’s leader in live high school play-by-play coverage, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Weatherford Independent School District to broadcast all WHS varsity baseball games during the 2025 season.

Beginning with Saturday’s season opener against Denton Guyer, WHS fans can listen to every pitch of Kangaroo baseball live this season on a variety of platforms, including RooBaseballNetwork.com, WeatherfordisdKangaroos.com and the Weatherford Kangaroos app.

“It means a lot to me to bring my hometown a truly special level of broadcast coverage,” said Metro Sports owner/GM Chuck Kelly. “We did the WHS playoff series the last couple of seasons and we felt now is the time to take it to the next level with professional broadcasts”.

Kelly, a longtime DFW sportscaster, will be joined by Michael Dixon, who has six seasons of professional baseball play-by-play experience and is currently the co-host of the Dallas Stars pre- and post-game coverage on The Ticket.

“I am very excited about this partnership,” WHS baseball coach Jason Lee said. “I believe this will be a great way to promote our players, program, Weatherford High School, and the community of Weatherford. We appreciate the business community stepping up to bring something this special to our fans”.

All games will be preceded by a 30-minute Warmup Show, featuring interviews with players and Coach Lee, and will be followed by a 15-minute Wrap-Up Show, with the Star-of-the-Game interview and game recap.
